Dustproof

Dustproof means a device is built to keep dust from entering in a way that could harm the system. Dust can block cooling, damage fans, collect on boards, and reduce reliability. Dustproof or dust-resistant designs are common in factories, warehouses, vehicles, and outdoor installations.

Water Resistant

Water resistant means a device can handle some exposure to water, depending on how it is built and rated. It does not always mean the device can be submerged or sprayed from every direction. The exact level of protection should be checked through the product rating or specification.

MIL-STD

MIL-STD refers to military standard test methods used to describe how equipment performs under tough conditions. These tests may involve vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, dust, or other stresses. A product that references MIL-STD testing should still be reviewed carefully to understand which tests it actually passed.

NEMA Rating

A NEMA rating describes how well an enclosure protects the equipment inside from environmental conditions. It can relate to dust, water, oil, corrosion, indoor use, outdoor use, and other concerns. NEMA ratings are often used for electrical boxes, control panels, and industrial enclosures.

DIN Rail

Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
